Constitutional Capital of Bolivia

 
 

SUCRE, is also called the “White City” because of its white houses with red roofs; it is perhaps the best demonstration of thearchitectural treasure, historic and artistic,in Bolivia. Patrimony is reflected in its streets, religious and civil buildings, and the different cultural manifestations; in 1991 it was declared Historic and Cultural Patrimony of Humanity by the UNESCO.

Sucre was founded in 1538 by Pedro Anzures, Marques de Campo Redondo, at the foot Churuquella and Sica Sica hills; it is 2700 meters above sea level and has a moderate climate. (18 degrees Celsius average temperature).

Sucre is also known as the City of Four Names: Charcas, Chuquisaca, La Plata, and Sucre.
